Another important thing to be kept in mind is that the person working as a purser needs to have a cool temperament to deal with passengers on board. He should not lose his temper and stay calm to deal with various complaints of the passengers. He is also required to supervise day to day activities of the Purser’s office as per the directions of the Chief Purser.

A purser on a ship is responsible for assisting passengers and taking care of important documents on board. He also manages ship attendants to ensure the comfort and safety of various passengers. He may also assist the guests with paperwork including preparation of customs declarations. His duties are multifarious including accompanying travelers to the ship’s bridge, issuing identity cards for the new members of the crew and evaluating comment sheets of passengers.

A Purser must have good communications skills in English language and should also possess a degree in hotel or Restaurant management. This cruise job also requires someone to have previous hotel experience or ship experience. After knowing the desired skills and qualifications of a Purser, we should now proceed towards making an effective resume along with an accompanying cover letter for applying to various companies.
